Basic Education Project
Community Preschool:
In this academic year 2022, KAKO has operate six community preschool classes in Lvea, Snor, Kouk Srama, Kouk Thmei, Stung Preah Srok and Pro-hut villages in Lvea commune, Puok district, Siem Reap province. There are 125 students enrolled, 55 girls. In this project, KAKO always provides nutrition to students, including soybean milk everymorning, fruits, biscuits and candies every week, and provides the materials for students, teachers and classrooms, as well as salaries for teachers and soybean cooks. KAKO always organizes guardians meeting one time, soybean cooks meeting one time, teachers meetings 5 times, and 7 days of workshops for teachers per project year cycle.
Objective:
Provide the opportunity to the children age 3-4-5 years old to study in the community.
Outcome of Basic Education (Preschool projects):
As a result, in school year 2021, KAKO supported to 155 community and public preschool students, 76 girls. in this project, children acquire knowledge such as… know some of alphabets, names of vegetables, fruits, animals, shapes, colors, dates, counting numbers, answering yes, holding a pencil, saluting, singing and doing gestures through songs, reciting poems… have social connections, have courage, understand hygiene and good living habits. In addition to knowledge, they practice basic motions with the teacher to strengthen their body. Nutrition also helps children to grow physically. For children who have gone through preschool, it is easy for teachers to teach them in the first grade.
